Obituary

Murrel Allen Slappe, 81, of South Charleston passed away on March 18, 2014.

He was a painting contractor in the Kanawha Valley for over 40 years. Murrel served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Slappe; son, Allen Slappe; daughter, Shelley Jean Slappe; grandson, Richard Slappe; and several brothers and sisters.

Murrel is survived by his sons, Dwight Slappe and Doug Slappe and their families; sister, Helen Corder; brother, Hershal Slappe; and grandchildren, Dwight, Randy, Brent, Stephen, and Jason Slappe.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 21 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, March 22 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Rev. Mark Hunter officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Memorial Park, South Charleston.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers, neighbors on Brown Street, and Hospice for their kindness and caring.
