Naomi Walker, 97, a resident of Sweetbriar in Dunbar, died Monday, July 6, 2009, in Thomas Memorial Hospital after suffering a heart attack.
Born November 24, 1911, in Liberty, Putnam County, West Virginia, the youngest daughter of William and Rebecca Milam Coleman. She was preceded in death by her husband of seventy years, Ira N. Walker, her sister, Freddie Coleman, and brother, Charles F. Coleman.
She is survived by her nephew, Charles and his wife, Ella Mae Coleman, three great-nephews, Charles, David and Craig Coleman and their families.
Naomi was a member of First Baptist Church of Dunbar and the Harmony Sunday School class, The Woman's Club of Dunbar, and the Order of Eastern Star Dunbar Chapter No. 133. She had worked for the City of Dunbar Sanitary Board and Riley's Department Store.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, July 9, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Thomas E. Stevens, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
