Obituary

Nina Barker Robinson, 83, beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 23, 2017. Her loving family was by her bedside as heaven received an angel. She was a godly woman serving her Lord as a faithful steward.

Nina was born January 5, 1934 to the late Harold and Opal Henry in Dorothy, West Virginia. She graduated from East Bank High School and retired from Kauffelt & Kauffelt after 28 years working as an administrative secretary.

Nina was a single mother devoted to raising her four children with grace and dignity through the toughest of times. She taught them strong values; honesty, compassion, determination, forgiveness, respect and love. These principles were instilled in her children by demonstrating them in her daily life. She was a faithful supporter of her family through all transitions of her life. Her determination and work ethic were her most valuable possessions and she proudly passed them to her children. She took great pride sharing in her children's accomplishments and successes.

Spending time with her family and special lifetime friend, Laura Rose Fuller, brought her immense joy. She treasured time together with them relaxing, traveling, shopping, listening to gospel music, attending worship services and the holidays; the Christmas season was her favorite.

Nina was a gracious, beautiful soul. Always giving and caring displaying kindness and concern for others. She influenced all who knew her with her sweet personality and loving, caring heart.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Vernon Barker and James Robinson; brothers, Pat Henry and Jack Henry.

Those left to cherish her memories include her four children, Michael Barker, Cathy Banks (Terry), Mark Barker (Kim), and Nancee Barnette (Tim); grandchildren, Justin Barker (Cynthia), Sarah Smith (Mike), Tosh Barker, Jennifer Clark (Chris), Brittany Barker, Lyndsey Barker, Christopher Banks (Cynthia), Katie Potter (Jeff), and Emilee Kahn (Daniel); great-grandchildren, Zachary and Julia Barker, Collins and Carsen Smith, Corrynn Banks, Beau, Caroline and Annie Potter; brother, Ben Henry (Jackie) and sister-in-law, Jean Henry.

The family wishes to give special thanks and recognition to Dr. Jonathan Lilly. Over the years, he's provided exceptional, outstanding, compassionate care to Nina. Dr. Lilly has been a source of strength, comfort and peace guiding the family with his knowledge and wisdom throughout her final journey on earth. Nina loved him dearly and the family will be forever grateful to him.

Also the family is thankful to Fay, Joan, Karen, Sharon, Stephanie, and Ruth for the wonderful care they've given to Nina. They started as caregivers and became a part of the family. Their dedication to Nina was absolutely amazing and appreciated beyond words.
