Obituary

The Mountaineers lost one of their most avid supporters with the death of Norma Bird O'Meara. She died September 3, 2015 in Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Sarasota, Fla.

She was the daughter of Damon E. Bird and Pearl Marie Bird Simmons, formerly of Charleston.

Mrs. O'Meara was a long time Eastern Star member and a 30-year employee of West Virginia Government (Tax Department). She worked within the judicial system, traveling throughout the state in performance of her court duties. She had a staff of court employees and enjoyed her professional life. She also loved the state of West Virginia, its culture, beauty and people, with all her heart.

She was married to Thomas O'Meara and they each had three children. They commonly referred to themselves as "The Brady Bunch." Thomas preceded her in death several years ago, as did her beloved sister, Donna White.

Mrs. O'Meara is survived by her children, Timothy Fay of Birmingham, Ala., Donna Thompson of Tucson, Ariz., Denise Fay of Tucson, Ariz.; stepchildren, Thomas O'Meara of Ohio, Patrick O'Meara of Dunbar and Michael O'Meara of Charlotte, N.C.; and brothers, Damon E. Bird of Indianapolis, Ind. and Paul D. Bird of Sarasota, Fla.

Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 12, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with the Rev. Doyle D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 11, at Keller Funeral Home.
