Okey R. Pickrell, 81, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, March 18, 2015.
He was born on Sept 12, 1933 in Leroy, Jackson County to the late C. W. Pickrell & Ilia M. O'Dell Pickrell.
Okey moved to Dunbar in 1939 and graduated from Dunbar High in 1952. He started working for C & P Telephone Co in 1953 and on April 2, 1955 he married Thelma M Quick. Okey enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1955 and was discharged 1958. He returned to C & P Telephone Co and retired from Bell Atlantic Corp. after 39.5 years of service.
He was a member of Cross Lanes Bible Church. Okey served as President, Vice President and Treasurer of the Golden Age Club. He loved to be outdoors hunting, fishing and camping.
In addition to his parents, Okey was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma.
Surviving him are his children; daughter, Sheryl Montgomery of Toledo, Ohio; sons, Ronald C. Pickrell ( Tauni ) of Lakeland, Fla,, Gregory A. Pickrell of Parkersburg; grandchildren, Steven, Caleb, Haley, Caitlin and Brandon Pickrell, Devon and Adam Montgomery; sister, Marcella Jean Howell (Howard ) of Canton, Ohio.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, March 22 at Cross Lanes Bible Church in Cross Lanes with the Rev. Dave Buckley conducting the services. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, March 21 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
