Obituary

Otto Earl Goldsberry, 81, of Cross Lanes, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 19, 2006 at his home.

Earl was born April 6, 1925 in Nellis, Boone County, WV, the son of the late Homer and Thona Goldsberry. He attended Sherman High School in Seth. He served his country in the US Army, WWII, combat duty in North Africa and Italy with Fifth Army 91st Division, and was awarded the Purple Heart in the Rome-Arno Campaign. He attended Charleston School of Commerce of Business, and later established Earl's Auto Parts, Inc. of South Charleston in 1960, and later established branches in Dunbar and Alum Creek. He was a Life Member of the VFW, American Legion and DAV. Earl was a member of Northside Church of the Nazarene.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Sebert Goldsberry; sisters, Gertrude Goldsberry, Chalmer Doles, Avis Griffith.

Mr. Goldsberry is survived by his wife Ruth Hayes Goldsberry of 58 years; son, Wayne E. Goldsberry and wife, Crystal of Charleston; daughter Gwen Lou Comer and husband, David of Irving, TX; five grandchildren, Christine and husband, Keith Roach of Rockwall, TX, Craig and wife, Robin Goldsberry of Hurricane, Kevin and wife, Michelle Goldsberry of Eleanor, Lisa and husband, William DeMoss of Morgantown, WV, Tina and husband, Tyler Miller of Nitro, WV; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, James Goldsberry and Charley Goldsberry of Madison, WV; sisters, Marie Wooten of Columbus, OH, Pearl Compton of Madison, WV; several nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Special thanks to friends and neighbors on Windsong Way.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Oct. 24, at Northside Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jerry Cline officiating. Burial with military rites will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Oct. 23, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
