Patricia
Parsons
June 11, 1940 – March 31, 2023
Patricia "Pat" Parsons 82, of Dunbar, died on Friday, March 31, 2023.
Pat was a crime show aficionado, and a story teller extraordinaire, delighting her grandchildren and great-grandchildren with characters like Wanda Whoopalini, and the little girl who rode her duck to church. She loved her dog, Oliver, and made us promise to not mistreat him, even though he bites. Pat was terrible at UNO, but was quick to laugh at herself when she had a full hand of cards. She loved the beach, drives in convertibles, dancing in the rain with her grandkids, and the music of Zach Williams. Pat had a wonderful sense of humor, and was quick with an "Eddie" story for those who hadn't heard one. She loved to write, direct, and act in church plays.
Pat had a passion for her church, and many will remember her testimonies and when the spirit moved, she just couldn't hold it back. She dearly loved her church family, and loved spending time with "the girls". After church lunches and making questionable crafts with the ladies were some of her favorite times.
Pat's greatest joy was her family. She was fierce in her love for them. She raised her two daughters on her own, and as she did, they came first no matter what. Pat worked hard to provide a good life for them, and through her example of unconditional love and strength, they learned what sacrificial love looked like. She will always be their hero.
She didn't lose the battle against breast cancer. Rather she is right now enjoying her eternal reward in the presence of Jesus, whom she loved and served for so many years. Her battle was but a small part of the large life she led, and instead we focus on the lives she touched through her love and generosity, and her genuine passion for people.
Pat was humble enough to think she never had much of an impact on people, and even in her last days lamented she should've done more for Christ. The outpouring of love and support from people everywhere tells a different story. She will be missed by many.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Gladie Mae and Leonard Backus Thomas; her sister, Nancy Ann Lewis; and the love of her life, Harold "Eddie" Parsons.
Pat leaves behind two daughters who will miss her terribly, Lisa Rene Sargent (John), and Tonya Ann Westfall (Larry); four grandchildren, Morgan Phillips (Aaron), Allie Mendenhall (Eric), Joshua and Abigail Westfall; four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Addison, Samuel, and William; and Caroline Patricia will be arriving in September this year.
A funeral service will be held 12 p.m., on Thursday, April 6 at Dunbar Church of God. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
A visitation we be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 5 at the church.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to OhioHealth Hospice, who helped her family take excellent care of her in her last days.
