Paul D. "Danny" Harper

Paul D. “Danny” Harper, 84, of Nitro, WV passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at Thomas Hospital.

Danny was born on December 1, 1941, in Charleston, WV. He was the first of four children born to the late Lucille Reed and George W. Harper.

He married his high school sweetheart and love of his life, Susie Legg in 1960. Together they raised two children and a multitude of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Danny loved each of them well and they all loved him.

Danny was a member of Rock Branch Independent Church. He cherished spending time with family. He had many hobbies through out his lifetime which in his later years included raising a small garden and working puzzles, among other things.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three siblings, Darrell, Roxie, and Johnny; his father and mother-in-law, Manuel and Wilma Legg who loved him as their own; and many other loved ones too numerous to list.

Danny is survived by his wife, Anna Mae “Susie”; his daughter, Kim Higley (Jeff); his son, Mike (Sandy); and his grandchildren, Jennifer Harper (Shawn), Jason Marsh (David), Mark Harper (Bethany), Dustin Harper (Kendra), Brandon Harper (Erin); his great-grandchildren, Cassie and Jason Tester, Alley-Gene Webb, Evelyn, Peyton, Graham, Poppy, Ila, Emma, Oakland, and August Harper; and his great-great-granddaughter, Amelia Mae Scarberry.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastors Aaron Ramsey and Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Cemetery, Sissonville.

Family will welcome visitors from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
