Obituary

Paul Clifford Hermansdorfer, 81, of St. Albans, WV, peacefully passed away on February 1, 2025, at Sweetbriar Assisted Living, after a long battle with dementia.

Paul was born on October 13, 1943, to the late Paul Abraham Hermansdorfer and Betty Anne Hermansdorfer.  He grew up in Dunbar, WV where he met the love of his life, Betty Jane "Janie" Hermansdorfer.  They were married May 13, 1967, and resided in St. Albans, WV.  He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Dunbar.

Paul was a graduate of Dunbar High School and West Virginia State College, earning a Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Technology.  Paul was a proud member of the United States Army, serving in Vietnam.  He was honorably discharged in 1969.  Paul retired from Columbia Gas Transmission, following 40+ years of service.

Paul enjoyed fishing, cooking and attending Marshall football games and tailgates where he was known for his spaghetti dinners.  He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family at the dog track.  Amongst many other things, he will be remembered for his bad jokes which he told repeatedly and how proud he was of grandchildren, Blake and Alayna.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Joan Shawver and brother, John Hermansdorfer.

He is survived by his sister, Mary Catherine Hermansdorfer of Dunbar, WV; son Paul Andrew Hermansdorfer of Huntington, WV; son Timothy Allen Hermansdorfer (Karla) of St. Albans, WV; grandchildren Blake and Alayna Hermansdorfer; and nephew Mike Shawver (Theresa) of Myrtle Beach, SC.

The family would like to thank the staff at Sweetbriar Assisted Living for caring for Paul for the last 2 years.

Services will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at First Presbyterian Church of Dunbar followed by a graveside service, with military honors at Grandview Memorial Park.

Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
