Obituary

Paul Edward Koontz, 87, of Tyler Mountain passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 surrounded by his family and friends.

Paul was self-employed his entire life starting with Paul Koontz Sunoco and Wrecker Service in Dunbar where he served the area for over 30 years. He also jointly owned and operated Midas Muffler in St. Albans until he retired in 1990. Paul had the honor of giving many young men in Dunbar their first job.

Paul was a man of faith who was a friendly, thoughtful, caring person. He was usually the story; not the story teller.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart and Gladys Koontz; two sisters; and four brothers. Paul was the last of the "Koontz Brothers."

Paul is survived by his children, Michael Koontz (Cheryl) of Cincinnati, OH, Denise Koontz of St. Albans, Tim Koontz of Tyler Mountain, Tom Koontz of Charleston; grandchildren, Cherie Caudill, Amy Vanness, Paul Koontz, Amber Blackburn, Steven Blackburn; four great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, June 1 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Rev. Greg Hudson officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 31 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
