Paul "Woody" Powers, 80, of St. Albans, formerly of Middletown, Ohio, passed away at home August 14, 2011.
He was a kind, loving family man and very active as one of Jehovah's Witnesses. While Woody's family was very important to him, most important was his relationship with his God Jehovah. He enjoyed preaching from door to door about the Kingdom of God that will bring about a paradise on earth. Many of the things he enjoyed revolved around his worship of Jehovah, such as the building of Kingdom Halls in West Virginia, Ohio, Kentucky, Maryland as well as one in the Dominican Republic. Although not skilled in the building trades he and his wife enjoyed the privilege of cooking and providing meals for those who were. He also enjoyed fishing, fish frys, and time spent with family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Marion and Sylvia Powers, sisters Betty MacSwain, and Imajean Finley.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years Belva Powers. In addition, three daughters and sons-in-law; Lynn and Harry Bryan, of Trenton, Ohio; Terri and Fred Sothard, of Walton, Kentucky; and Pat and J Roncaglione, of St. Albans. Also included are eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, as well as two brothers; Don and wife Mary Powers from St. Cloud, Florida and Ron and wife Pat from Phoenix, Arizona.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 606 King Street, Dunbar. The service will be officiated by Todd R. Perry.
