Obituary

Paul Warren Welch III, 40, unexpectedly passed away on October 11, 2025 surrounded by family.

Paul was born in Charleston, WV on May 26, 1985, to Teresa Burford and Paul Welch Jr.

Paul completed his schooling at Mountaineer Challenge Academy. He very much enjoyed his job at Roy Lyons Heating and Cooling where he worked for Roy for more than 15 years bringing the total number of years he dedicated to his career to 21. Paul was made Install Manager of the Myrtle Beach Branch of ARS managing seventeen teams on his own. While working in Rock Hill, SC he constantly won awards and quarterly employee of the month. Upon moving back to WV, Paul took the hardest HVAC test and passed with the score of excellence, making his family, boss, co-workers, and himself so proud for earning such a high achievement.

Paul made every day fun and enjoyable for his co-workers and boss.  Customers adored his personality and loved how hard working and professional he was. Paul was incredibly happy working for Roy treating him like a father figure. Roy in turn took great care of Paul.  Paul liked to spend his free time working in the garden he loved which he named "The Garden Of Eatin'".

He loved trying new recipes from the things he grew, and was learning how to make natural remedies. Paul said he found his love for gardening at his grandmother's home when he was a child. On a nice evening he would watch the night sky, or have bonfires with his grandpa, wife, and good friend Adam. He looked forward to passing the time around the fire listening to stories from his grandpa.

He liked to spend time on the weekends with his best friend, Dustin, helping people when they could.  He also would try his hand at fishing at his granny and mother-in-law's, even though he'd tell you he only ever caught turtles. Paul lived every day to the fullest, making everybody he ever came across smile or laugh. He would do anything for anyone, even a stranger and was always happy to help.

Paul was immensely proud of his family, his mother and two brothers for working in the medical field, his sister in making manager at Michael's in such a short time, and he loved and enjoyed hearing stories from his father's boxing days. He was extremely proud to be uncle to Bella, Caiden, Piper, Kenzi, and Oliver. He brought such joy to everyone he ever met changing their lives for the better.  Paul not only brought joy to everyone while he was alive, but also in death.  He generously donated his organs where that generosity will live on in the memories of those Paul saved.

Paul was proceeded in death by his maternal great-grandparents, Clara and Henry Tyree; paternal great-grandparents, Ora and Lonia Burford; paternal grandparents Paul Sr. and Bertha Welch.; uncles, Troy Welch, Sr. and Kevin Grant; aunt, Jeanie Kimmons; along with cousin, Troy Welch, Jr.

Paul was survived by his loving wife of 20 years, Ashley Welch of Sissonville; his wonderful parents, Teresa Burford of Saint Albans and Paul Welch, Jr. of Dover, New Hampshire; brothers, Tim Welch (Elizabeth, Kenzi) of Elkview, Jacob Welch of Saint Albans; sister, Elizabeth Welch-Fling (Anthony) of Nitro; aunt Dreama and uncle James Gingerich of Sissonville; uncle Allen and aunt, Rita Burford of Sissonville; aunt, Renae and uncle, Nate Garnes of Sissonville; uncle, Travis and aunt, Kim Welch of Dover, New Hampshire; uncle, Terry Welch of Dover, New Hampshire; aunt Bobbie Courtois (Dave) of Maine; mother-in-law, Melissa Brown and grandmother-in-law, Wanda Duff of Grantsville; father-in-law, Larry Brown (Stacy, and Jace) of Ohio; brother-in-law, Shawn and Hannah Brown ( Caiden, Piper, Oliver) of Red House; sister-in-law, Kellie Brown (Bella and Justin) of Winfield. Paul had an exceptionally large family including many aunts, uncles and cousins, many close friends and co-workers he considered family.

We would like to thank the staff of STICU and CAMC General for everything they did. We are very thankful for those who came through during this time of need.  Thank you for all the donations we have received to help Paul.
