Obituary

Pauline Ava Anderson, known as "Squeaky" to everyone gained her wings on September 15, 2022 at 7:05 a.m. at the Hubbard Hospice House.

She was born to the late Joseph "Sonny Boy" and Betty Rakes Anderson on May 29, 1950.

Squeaky was educated in Kanawha County Schools and graduated from Dunbar High School in 1969, where she participated in many activities. She graduated from West Virginia State College (WVSU) with two degrees in social work and criminal justice in 1977. Squeaky was involved in numerous organizations throughout her time, such as Dunbar Midget League, Dunbar Biddy Basketball, cheer coordinators, and vice presidents of leagues. One of her favorite songs was "Lets Get Physical" and she enjoyed doing aerobics in the 70's and 80's. Squeaky also chaperoned numerous band and show choir trips as well as high school proms and school dances. She spent most of her time making sure "Pebbles" was active in everything and always went an extra mile to go above and beyond. She was a "silver Soror" and she shined bright with her pin. She loved being part of Alpha Kappa Alpha, Inc, Alpha Omicron Omega Chapter and loved her pink and green from sun up to sun down.

Squeaky retired from James H. Tiger Morton Juvenile Detention Center in January of 2007 with 34 years of service. There are many fortunate people in Kanawha County who were counseled by her and were able to turn their life around. She wore her uniform proudly and took her job serious as she was always willing to work overtime.

She never met a stranger and could talk you down until the next day…and then would pick up where she left off.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph "Tojoe" Anderson and Lillian "Sue" Anderson.

Squeaky leaves behind to mourn her loss a brother, Leon Anderson of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Sonya "Pebbles" Anderson of St. Albans; special niece, Chrishlen Sade LeBeau Spence of Pompano Beach, FL; nieces, Bianca Witt, Kimberly Harold, Simone Tyler and Trista Anderson; many great nieces; great nephews and a host of cousins and close relatives. She had three special friends who meant the world to her, Sandra Woods, Clyde Bullard and Shannon Hebrick. She always spoke highly of all of you.

A funeral service will be held at 12 p.m. on Friday, September 23, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Robert K. Davis officiating. Following the service a repass will be at the West Virginia State University Erickson Center at 2:30 p.m.
