June 25, 1930 – February 4, 2017
Peggy Ann Hitt, 86, of Dunbar, got her wings on Saturday, February 4, 2017.
She was born in Charleston to the late Harry and Iva Stover.
She loved life, but more than anything, she loved her husband, her family and relied on her Christian faith throughout her life. She was a homemaker and taught Sunday School at Dunbar First Church of God for many years and touched many lives with her tenderness.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Cathy Carter and her brother, Harry Wayne Stover.
Peggy is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, George W. Hitt, sons; David Hayes (Veronica) and Arnold Hayes (Lisa), daughter; Susan Black (Greg), sisters; Jo Ellen Withrow and Clara Beatrice "Judy" Pauley, 14 grandchildren (an argument ensues over which one was her favorite), 21 great-grandchildren 4 great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Dunbar First Church of God, Dunbar, with Pastor Billy Rowe and Rev. Dr. Larry McCallister officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at the Dunbar First Church of God, Dunbar.
The family would like to thank Hospice and their caregivers for the love and compassion shown to Granny and Paw.
Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
