Ralph Eugene Myers, 81, of Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 13, 2007, surrounded by his loving family.
He was retired from Appalachian Power Company with over forty years of service, was an Army veteran of World War II, and a member of First Church United Methodist, Dunbar. He was a devoted father, husband, grandfather and friend who enjoyed being surrounded by those he knew and loved. One of his greatest pleasures was attending Poca Middle School and Poca High School boys basketball games to watch his grandsons play, and he always enjoyed listening to both WVU basketball and football games on the radio. Every fall for the past 35 years found him turkey hunting in Sugar Grove, WV. All these things provided him the experiences to become an avid story teller. His tales were enjoyed by all.
He was preceded in death by his parents Forrest Rose and Joseph Myers, and was the youngest of 17 children.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Eleanor; children and their spouses, Sharon and Bob Cline, Jeff and Tonia Myers, and Angie and DB Smith; granddaughter and husband, Stacey and Matt Lindsay; grandsons, Jamie Juzwik, Ryan and Justin Smith; great grandson, Reece Juzwik; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to thank the nurses and doctors in the ICU at St. Francis Hospital, for their kindness and care.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey Harless officiating. Burial will follow in Parsons Cemetery, Gay.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, January 16, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
