Raymond Chaney, 83, of Hurricane, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2011, at Hubbard Hospice House in Charleston.
He was a native of Branchland, Lincoln Co. and a member of the St. Albans Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was always there to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it and always ready to entertain with one of his famous stories. He and his many stories will be fondly remembered by family and friends.
Mr. Chaney was preceded in death by his parents, Leonard and Sedith McCallister, his brother, James (Tiny) McCallister, his first wife, Betty Chaney and son, Thomas Spaulding, I.
Surviving are his loving wife, Marjory Iris Chaney; children, Brenda Chaney of Stuart, Fla., Paula Chaney of Beaufort, SC, Gregory Chaney of Hurricane, Barbara Rowland of Hazlehurst, Ga., Connie McCoy of St. Albans, Beverley Sampson of Scott Depot, Russell Spaulding of Groton, CT. and Luke Spaulding of Wadsworth, Ohio. Mr. Chaney is also survived by 26 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 6 p.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011, at the Dunbar Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 606 King Street, Dunbar.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311.
