Obituary

Rebecca A. Price, 88, of Dunbar, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 2, 2006, in Valley Center, South Charleston.

She was the loving wife of the late John R. Price and the daughter of the late Andrew Kendall and Lucy Reed Boyd. Additionally, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Hill of Advance, NC in 1997; her brother, Andrew K. Boyd, Jr. of Cross Lanes in 2001 and by an infant brother in 1925.

Becky was a homemaker all her life after a brief stint as a receiving clerk for Sears. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Dunbar and was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She served as treasurer for the Kanawha Valley American Baptist Women for over twenty years. Becky was a nineteen year resident of Dunbar Towers and formerly a long time resident of Twentieth Street.

Becky, as known by those who loved her, is survived by her son, Alan T. Price and his wife, Anna of Nashville, TN. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Nick Hill and his sister, Cayce Hill of Winston-Salem, NC, Bill Price and his wife, Kristin of Smyrna, TN who are the parents of Becky's two great grandchildren, Allison and Tyler. Becky is a favorite aunt and, at times, was more like a mother to her nephews and nieces: Nancy Jobb and husband, Clark; Andrew K. Boyd, III and wife, Edith (Tee); Mark Boyd and wife, Cheryl; Gloria Dunlap and husband, Mark; Tom Boyd and wife, Traci and Joan Carpenter and husband, Mike. Besides many grand and great grand nephews and nieces, Becky had a number of long-time friends from Charleston High School, First Baptist Church and the community.

The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, February 5, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. George R. Pauley officiating. Burial will be in the Garden of the Apostles at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, February 4, and one hour before the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Valley Center and to the staff of HospiceCare.
