Richard Badger Cyrus, 80, of South Charleston, gained his wings on Thursday, January 20, 2022.

He was born on July 10, 1941, in Charleston, to the late Robert and Lucille Cyrus.

Richard graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School. He retired from West Virginia Health and Human Services after 22 years.

He loved taking vacations with his wife Nora, New York and Cancun were their favorite places. Richard enjoyed playing golf and chess with his great-nephew, Ronn Taylor. He spent time with his great-niece, Janaue Taylor, with whom he shared a birthday. Richard was a big Pittsburgh Steelers fan, going to games with his nephew, Raymond Cyrus. He enjoyed golfing with his brother, Bobby Cyrus and enjoyed playing tennis. Richard also liked talking on the phone with his brother Eddie, discussing sports and golf.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Gertrude Cyrus Sanders; his brother, Stanley Cyrus; and his sister, Jean Cyrus Taylor.

Richard is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Nora Cyrus; son, Malcolm Graves and companion Charles of Guerneville, CA; brothers, Bobby Cyrus of Charleston, Eddie Cyrus of San Antonio, TX; mother-in-law, Marguerite Bush of Beckley; sisters-in-law, Yvonne Lawson of Columbia, SC, Trina Lawson of Beckley, Ellen Leadbetter of Las Vegas, NV, Derrie Page of Chambersburg, PA , Sheila Leadbetter of Beckley; brothers-in-law, Willie Leadbetter of Beckley, Billy Leadbetter of Beckley; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Matthew Watts officiating and acknowledgments read by Teresa Cyrus..

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
