Obituary

Richard L. "Dick" Lutz, 90, of South Charleston, broke the bonds of Earth on Sunday, November 3, 2024, to claim our little cabin in the corner of Glory Land.

He was born on May 14, 1934, in Charleston, to the late Ed and Gladys Lutz.

Dick was a proud Marine serving at Camp Lejeune, NC from 1952-1957.  He then had a career with United Fuel Gas/Columbia Gas Transmission and retired in 1985.  Not caring for retirement, he became a Driver's License Examiner for the WV State Police, which he found to be his most enjoyable work.  After a second retirement, he kept himself busy being an active member and officer of Southwest Church of God.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by sister, Barbara Jean Lutz; granddaughter, Heather Lewis; and great grandson, Nikolai Lewis.

Dick is survived by he loving wife of 70 years, Arminta Weaver Lutz; daughters, Jeanne (Larry) Lewis of Orlando, FL and Jodi Alexander of South Charleston; four grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; sisters, Shirley Ingram and family of Concord, NC and Nancy Samples of Dunbar; along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at the Sunset Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, South Charleston, with Pastor David McCormick and Pastor Tom Wise officiating.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the Sunset Memorial Mausoleum Chapel, South Charleston.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
