Obituary

Rick Dunn Jr., 45, of Sissonville, passed away on Saturday July 11, 2020.

He was born on October 2, 1974, in South Charleston, to Richard Dunn Sr., and Sandie Murray.

Rick was a die hard bowler. His love of the game and career as the manager of Dunbar Lanes until its closure in 2015, proved him to be a valuable mentor to many youth bowlers in the area. Most importantly his, two sons, who he took great pride in their passion and accomplishments in the sport.

When he wasn't bowling, or talking about bowling, he spent his time cheering on his beloved Denver Broncos and WVU Mountaineers (or defending the from haters), or he was on a riverbank somewhere fishing, with the brightest flashlight in the bunch. Whatever the pastime , he was doing it with his family.

Ricky was always family first. He was a proud father, son, brother, uncle, pawpaw, friend and so much more to so many. His bear hugs were never out of stock for anyone who might need one and will surely be missed by all.

His colorful personality and skin made a lasting impression on anyone that met him. The memories that will be shared about him for years to come, will undoubtedly include Metallica, bowling, boobies, milkshakes (you know the big, expensive, hand-dipped ones from Huskey's Dairy Bar), fishing, what an abomination pants are, 937 ways to program and reprogram a tv, stereo, or phone, and ink…lots and lots of ink. And if they don't, you're probably not talking about our Ricky.

He was preceded in death his father, Richard Dunn Sr. ; and his brother, Jonathan Dunn .

Ricky is survived by his sons, Richard Dunn III (Kelli McClanahan) of Charleston, Damian Dunn of Poca; mother, Sandie Murray (James) of Charleston; sister, Stephanie White (Rob) of Fort Myers, FL; brothers, Ryan Dunn of Berlin, WI, Brandon Murray (Sonya) of Charleston; granddaughter, Braylee June; his (although estranged) life partner and baby momma, Tara Kelley of Poca; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 18, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Rance Berry officiating.

Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
