Obituary

Robert A. Miller Sr., 95, of Chelyan went home to be with the Lord on July 25th, 2014 after a short illness.

He was an operator for Appalachian Electric Power for 36 years, retired in April of 1979 and has been enjoying retirement with his family for the past 35 years. He is remembered for his humor and sharing intriguing stories of his experiences in life. His life is best described by the words of Galatians 5:22, 23. "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control".

He was born in Hazard Kentucky on October 24th 1918, son of Levi and Emily Miller.

Robert was preceded in death by his loving wife Helen Virginia Bronze Miller; brothers J. C. Stacy, Celes Gayheart, Adam Gayheart and Alton Gayheart; sisters Mona Ladakis and Eva Lunsford.

He is survived by his daughters Phyllis A. Rollins of Barberton OH, Sharon Kay Walker (Thomas) of Chelyan; sons Robert (Bob) A. Miller Jr. (Paula) of St. Albans and Levi M. Miller of Chelyan; grandchildren Lori A. Otto, Howard E. Henshaw III, Reid E. Hendshaw, Amber N. Moore, Kristin D. Scott and Malissa D. Miller; seven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m, July 29th, at Bethel Baptist Church, 5028 Kentucky Street, South Charleston, with Pastor Randall Bratka officiating.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Hubbard Hospice House of Charleston for all their love, care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Hubbard Hospice House 1001 Curtis Price Way Charleston, WV 25311.
