Robert Douglas
Burns
February 8, 1946 – August 16, 2022
Robert "Bobby" Douglas Burns, a.k.a. Turkey, 76 of St. Albans, passed away at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston on Tuesday, August 16, 2022 after an extended illness, surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born on February 8, 1946 to the late Andrew and Cereda Allen Burns.
Robert accepted Christ at an early age and rededicated his life back to the Lord Jesus Christ recently. He was a member of Abundant Life Ministries in Charleston under the leadership of Bishop Wayne R. Crozier. Robert was educated in the public school system. He played football and basketball at Charleston High School and graduated in 1965. After graduating, he enlisted in the military and served 3 years in the United States Marine Corp., where he received an honorable discharge. Robert worked for several different chemical companies in the Kanawha Valley area. He retired from Bayer Corporation in 2005.
Robert never met a stranger and had a plethora of friends during his lifetime. He was an avid fisherman and wild game hunter. Due to his hunting abilities he was given a the nickname Turkey. When he wasn't with family or friends, he was sitting by the dock fishing or scouting out deer or turkeys during the seasons. Robert was also a die hard Pittsburgh Steelers fan. He always stood out in the crowd, because he was a classy dresser from head to toe; he was always sharp and he knew it!
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Wade, Cereda Triggs, Sandra Burns, Helen Bland, Alda Burns and Murriell Burns; and his brothers, Andrew "Butch" Burns, Jr. and Randy Pratt.
Robert leaves behind to mourn his memories, his beloved companion, Karen Harris of St. Albans; daughters, Tina Beatty (Ronald) of Charleston, Robin Bonner (Chris) of Cross Lanes, Nakia Burns of Macon, GA, Kisha Burns of Marietta, GA and Frederica Burns of Atlanta, GA; sister, Mary Sims of Brooklyn, NY; brothers, Jerald "Jerry" Burns and Ricky Pratt both of Charleston; grandchildren, Tunisia, Tiana, Teika, Ronald, Jr. (Taylor), Rache, RaKyra, Caliyah, Neiman, Nolan and Nelson; great-grandchildren, TKhyia, Mekhi, DaVayah, Jasper, Ronald III, Aaliyah, Josiah and Eastyn; great-grand baby on the way; bonus sons, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, cousins and lifetime friends; the mothers of his children, Tonya Edwards and Shelia Burns; and his two beloved dogs, Jayz and Spud.
