Robert A. Carroll, 51, of Dunbar, passed away Wednesday, August 13, 2008 after a brief illness.

Although originally from Charleston, he had spent most of his adult life in Florida, having returned home five years ago to be closer to his family.

Surviving members of his immediate family include his mother, Drema Conaway of Dunbar and his brother, William Carroll and his wife, Mary and their children. He is also survived by his aunts and uncles, Dottie and David Summerfield of Pinch, Roy Lilly of Dunbar and Bob and Gerry Slater of Charleston. There are also numerous cousins, including Dottie Ann Myers of Charleston, Carmen Lilly of St. Albans and Barry Wallace of Florida.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 16, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Thom Pratt officiating. Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Kennawa Drive, Charleston, WV 25311, where Rob was a resident in his final weeks. Please indicate that your donation is in memory of Robert A. Carroll.
