Obituary

Robert H. "Bob" Clarkson, 81, of Cross Lanes, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Chateau Grove Senior Living in Barboursville.

He was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School and attended the Charleston School of Commerce. He was retired from Appalachian Electric Power with 35 years of service. Bob was a very active member of the Nitro Church of God and was a US Army veteran of WW II, having served with the 82nd Airborne in Italy for 3 years. He was born February 25, 1927, son of the late Dr. Walter C. and Lena Lucille Clarkson and was raised in Charleston. He had been a resident of Cross Lanes for 46 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Walter C. Clarkson, Jr. and two sisters, Gail Young and Louise Peters.

Surviving are his loving wife, Iva Mae McCormick Clarkson of Cross Lanes, formerly of Sumerco, Lincoln County; daughters, Deborah Marie Blake and her husband, Larry of Melbourne, KY and Connie Lou Caudill and her husband John of St. Albans; sister, Juanita Gainer and her husband, William of Germantown,TN; sister-in-law, Mary Clarkson of Cross Lanes; grandchildren, Jonathan Blake and his wife, Karen, Jason Blake and his wife, Elana, Jennifer Caudill Edwards and Johnny Caudill and his wife, Robin; great grandchildren, Maddie Caudill, Ryan Blake, Joshua Blake, Jonas Blake, Ashleigh Edwards and Amaya Blake. Bob is also survived by a host of loving nieces and nephews and other family members.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 25, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. David McCormick officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Graceland Memorial Park.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 24, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

The family wishes to express their sincerely appreciation to the entire staff at Chateau Grove Senior Living in Barboursville for Bob's wonderful care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 1111 E. Lee Street, Charleston, WV 25301.
