Robert F. "Bob" Downey, 79, of Dunbar, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, January 31, 2007, at his home.

Bob was born in Clay County, the son of the late Bernard and Georgia Downey. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his five brothers, and one sister.

Bob served in the United States Navy and was retired from Union Carbide and Rhone Poulenc. He officiated for over 50 years in football and basketball in West Virginia. He was an avid golfer and fisherman.

Mr. Downey is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marcille Garrett Downey; niece, Pam Ulbrich of St. Albans; three nephews, Ernie Downey of St. Albans, Jimmy Downey of Dunbar, Greg Downey of Pinch.

Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m., noon Saturday, February 3, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Dr. Okey B. Harless, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
