Robert Brown Thomas, 83, of Charleston passed away on Tuesday, January 5, 2016.
He was a welder and owner of Thomas and Kessler Welding, and retired from Douglas Barrels. Robert was a Navy veteran and served during the Korean War on the USS Northampton. He was a 50 year member of the South Charleston Masonic Lodge 168.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Woodson Ray and Stella Frances Thomas; and nephew, Kevin Thomas.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Betty Thomas; sons, Mitch Thomas and wife, Donna, of Charleston, Marty Thomas and wife, Cheryl, of St. Albans, Murray Thomas and wife, Michelle, of Charleston; grandchildren, Ian and fiancée, Ashley and her daughter, Easton, Ethan, Corey and wife, Jessica, Conner, Kyler, Lindsey, Justin, Logan, Talon, Alexis and Kaiden; great-grandchildren, Aiden, Chase and Brooke; and brother, Paul Thomas of Pohnpei, FSM.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, January 8, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Stephen Harley and Mr. Rick Vaughan officiating. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery, Institute.
