Robert "Bob" Zabel, 77, of Dunbar and Bridgeton, NJ went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2014.
Bob was born April 4, 1937 on Zabel Drive, Charleston. He was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School class of 1955 and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He had a unique sense of humor and was always quick to tell a joke or story. Bob was an avid camper, where he had many close friends and loved to fish and sing karaoke.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Shawn; parents, Robert Sr. and Blanche; brother, Jon; sister, Barbara; and brother-in-law, Bill Townson.
Bob is survived by his wife of 50 years, Beverly; children, Vicki (Billy), David (Pat), Lee Ann (Tom), LeShannon; sister, Phyllis (Mike); brother-in-law, Larry (Gayle) Layne; twelve grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8 at Dunbar Baptist Church, where he attended. Pastor Chester Bird will officiate.
