Roger Leo Chapman of Cross Lanes, WV passed away January 24, 2024 at the age of 74 in WVU Medical/Thomas Hospital in South Charleston, WV after a brief illness.

Roger was a former employee of International Filler in Nitro, WV. He was an avid lover of astronomy, telescopes, and meteorites. He was associated with the Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society.  He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His unique stories and laughter will be missed by his friends and family.

He was preceded in death by his mother Kathleen Leep Chapman Rowe and father Frederick Leo Chapman Sr., his loving wife of 51 years Joan Elaine Chapman, and son Michael Roger Chapman.

Roger is survived by granddaughter Aurora, step-grandson Reece, and daughter-in-law Tierney Chapman of St. Albans; brother-in-law, Johnny William Johnson (Janet); niece Erica Michelle Elliott (James); grandniece, Addison; grandnephew, Easton; niece, Valerie Nicole Calvin (Dallas) all of Harrisburg, PA; half-brother, Gary Chapman (Pauline) of Tennessee; and half-sisters, Yvonne Pertee and Yvette Cook of Michigan.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Sunday, February 18 in Cunningham Memorial Park in the Upper Mausoleum.
