Roger Lee Profitt, 79, of Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, March 31, 2025.

He was born on March 22, 1946, in Charleston, to the late Herman and Irene Profitt.

Roger graduated from Stonewall Jackson High School in 1964 and then joined the U.S. Air Force. Immediately after the Air Force he joined the IBEW Local 466 as an electrical journeyman where he retired in 2008. He was a member of Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, Dunbar, where he served as the Board Secretary for over 50 years.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by son, Timothy Scott Profitt; first wife, Norema Lue Profitt; step-son, Jamie Roberts; and brother, Danny Profitt.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Profitt; son, John Profitt and wife Sarah of Alamogordo, NM; daughter, Amy Profitt-James of St. Albans; step-daughter, Jessica Price and husband Jesse Ray of Dunbar; grandchildren, Meghan Profitt-Hall of Lubbock, TX, Josiah James of St. Albans, Christian James of St. Albans; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Hall of Lubbock, TX; step-granddaughter, Makayla Robinson of Eleanor; brother, Gary Profitt of Sissonville; and many other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, Dunbar, with Pastor Tom Price and Pastor Josh Scarberry officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memorial Garden, Sissonville.

Friends may visit two hours prior the service at Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle, Dunbar.
