Roger Lynn Young, 77, of Cross Lanes, went to his heavenly home December 30, 2013, after a long illness.

Born March 5, 1936, he was the son of Starr Rudie and Clara Jones Young. He was a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School. He served in the United States Marine Reserves and the United States Army. Roger was employed for 42 years with Columbia Gas as a welder and 23 years of that time as welding shop supervisor. He served as Sunday School teacher and Deacon within his church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Marilyn, and his brother, Carl "Doc" Young.

Roger is survived by his loving wife, Ann, his son and daughter in law, Greg and Sandy Young, of Cross Lanes; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Tim Lane, of Cross Lanes; grandsons, Zachary and Mitchell Lane; stepson, Alan Anthony of Cross Lanes; stepdaughter and son-in-law, Missi and James Jordan of Nitro; stepgrandsons, Seth and Bodie Jordan; brother and sister in law, Norman and Barbara Young of Roanoke, VA; sister in law, Billie Young of Charleston; brothers in law and sisters in law, Laquita and Richard Mutton of Fairborn, OH, Dan and Pat Harris of Marietta, GA and Gary and Marlene Harris of Palm Bay, Florida; many nephews and nieces, and a host of family and friends.

Mr. Young's family would like to thank the staff of Genesis Healthcare Teays Valley Center for the care provided to Roger.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2014, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Linden Reed officiating. Burial will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.
