Obituary

Ronald Lee Boggess, 80, of Dunbar went home to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Hubbard Hospice House surrounded by his loving wife and family.

He was born July 2, 1943, the youngest of four children, to the late Othur and Almeda Boggess of Sissonville.

After graduating from Sissonville High School in 1961, Ronald worked for the Sears Monument Company for a brief time.  He attended Charleston School of Commerce from 1961-1962, then began his career with West Virginia Water Company in May of 1962.  During that time, he also obtained his Master Electrician's License.  He retired as a Production Supervisor with over 50 years of Service.  In addition, he faithfully served the Lord as church treasurer at Rebecca Chapel in Dunbar, where he loved singing in the choir.

Ronald married the love of his life, Juanita Jean Finney, on August 25, 1967.  Together, they had two daughter, Beth and Missy.

Ronald's love and dedication to his family were second only to his faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, which was evident to all who knew him.  He was a wonderful example of a husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, brother-in-law, and father-in-law to all of his family.  Ronald looked forward to the family trips to Myrtle Beach each year, mainly because his priority was ensuring that each one was having a wonderful time, although he certainly loved his seafood.  For many years, he worked painting houses on the side, so that he could make certain no expense was spared providing those family vacations.  When someone needed help, Ronald was there, as he always had time for others.  When his wife, Jean, was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, Ronald was by her side at every moment during the difficult journey throughout  her treatments at MD Anderson in Texas.  Whatever he did, family was paramount.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by his sisters, Rosalie and Reba; and brother, Ray.

He is survived by his loving wife, Jean; daughters, Beth Jenkins (Jeff) of Gassaway and Melissa Price (Scott) of Dunbar; grandchildren, Taylor, his buddy, Miller (Katie) and Brianna, his baby girl, Miller; great-grandson, Jack; along with a host of nieces, nephews, brother and sisters-in-law.

A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2023 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor Aaron Finney officiating.

Family will receive visitors two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 22 in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.  A funeral procession will leave at 10:30 a.m. from Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
