Ronald "Ron" Burdette, 69, of Liberty, KY, departed this life on Sunday, November 18, 2007, at St. Joseph-East Hospital, Lexington, KY after a short illness.
He was a graduate of Dunbar High School in 1957 where he played his favorite sport, football. Ron was always an avid sports fan and enjoyed hosting many firepit get-togethers for his friends and family. He loved the outdoors and traded his hunting rifle for a lawn mower when his health would no longer permit. But his pride and joy was his family which he loved dearly.
He was born in Dunbar, WV on July 23, 1938, the fourth child of Elvin and Macel Burdette, both of whom have preceded him in death along with his sister, Helen Teel and brother, Don Burdette. He retired from Jefferds Corporation in 2001 after 30 years of faithful see.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 35 years, Sandra; four sons, Kevin Trimble and his wife, Sylvia of Clarksville, TN, Ronnie Burdette and Cindy of Louisville, KY, Vance Trimble of Liberty, KY, Shane Burdette and Tonya Arthur of South Point, OH; three daughters, Willa Spradling and her fiancé, David Carpenter of Boca Grand, FL, Robin Elkins and her husband, Jim of Milton, WV and Angie Lester and Brian Nelson of Chesapeake, OH; 13 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren. Also surviving are his brother, Clinton Burdette and his wife, Jo of Red House, and his oldest sister, Reva Wills of Big Chimney, WV, along with a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends and his faithful dog, Jay.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Michael Todorovich officiating. Burial will follow in Elk Hills Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
Ron was dearly loved and will be sadly missed by his adoring family and countless friends whom he cherished.
