RONALD CHESTER LUCAS, 86, of Charleston, West Virginia, passed away on January 31, 2026, after a long and wonderful life. He was born at home on February 6, 1939, in Charleston, West Virginia.
He was preceded in death by his parents William Lewis Lucas and Mabel Orilla (Hill) Lucas, his sister Nancy Guthrie, ex-wives Carol Lucas and Betty Harrison Lucas, his maternal grandparents William Chester Hill and Hattie (Greenlee) Hill of Leon, WV, and paternal grandparents Lewis Saunders Lucas and Bessie (Wehrle) Lucas of Charleston, WV.
Ron is survived by his wife Connie (Hall Pauley) Lucas and brother William Lewis Lucas, II, of Jacksonville, FL, his sons Ronnie Lucas (Teresa) of Charleston, WV, Chris Lucas (Anne) of Ownings, MD , Rusty Harrison (Jennie) of Cross Lanes, WV, Rodney Pauley of Charleston, WV, and daughters Sandy Harrison (Robert Williams) of Houston, TX, and Amy (Pauley) Crist of Charleston, WV. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Ashley Lucas Panero (James), Chase Lucas (Rebecca), Danielle Lucas, Stephen Lucas (Jennifer), Miranda Harrison Morris (David), Casey Lucas (Alexis), Alex Crist, Lily Lucas, Ashton Harrison, Stephen and Daniel Williams. He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren: Madeline and Emma Lucas, Austin and Aiden Panero, Miley, Madden and Manning Lucas, Evie and Cammie Bartley, and Emma, Isla and Luca Williams. There are also numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Ron graduated from Dunbar High School in 1958, and served as Drum Major in the Dunbar High School band. After graduation, he attended Concord College. He left Charleston, WV, and moved to Hollywood, FL, to teach dancing classes and also opened Lucas Leasing. He moved back to WV and opened Lucas Old Fashioned Bakery in Nitro, then worked for Wellington's in Poca, and continued his multi-faceted entrepreneurial journey. He retired in early 2013, and he and Connie enjoyed traveling, antique shopping, and time with family.
He was blessed with a large and wonderful blended family that he shared his faith, and his kind and gentle love with. He and Connie attend Bible Center Church in Charleston, WV, for the past 25+ years.
Funeral service for Ron will be at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Keller Funeral Home in Dunbar, WV. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, WV.
Friends may visit with the family from 12:00 – 1:00 pm prior to the service.
