Obituary

Ronald Stuart Sapp, 69, of South Charleston died on November 20, 2015 of emphysema and he was a non-smoker. With him when he passed was his loving wife and primary caregiver Virginia "Gini" Lee Bier Sapp.

He was the only child of Ollie and Helen Maxine Shuman Sapp. He was born June 28, 1946 in New Martinsville. Beside his parents he was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Malinda Virginia Darrah Shuman, William Carl Bryan Jennings Shuman and Jane Pruitt Yoho; paternal grandparents, Lavina and Frank L. Sapp Sr.; mother-in-law, Hope E. Burgess Bier; father-in-law, Morgan Clark Bier Jr; aunts, uncles and cousins.

Ronald is also survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Kellie Sue Sapp King and Thomas Jeremy King; granddaughter, Catherine Scarlett Sapp; grandson, Christian Alexander King; great grandson, Joshua Lucian High; sister-in-law, Beckie Bier; aunts, uncles, cousins and his fur babies Zaggles and Nalla.

He retired from the Dept. of Transportation, Division of Highways as the Finalization Supervisor after 44 years. The Blennerhassett Island Bridge in Parkersburg which carries US 50, aka Corridor D, was his biggest and best accomplishment, but you won't find his name on the plaque or ribbon cutting ceremony program since he was too humble to put his name on it. He said it was his hand-picked team of people who built the bridge, he only guided them, made suggestions and gave the final approval and payment.

Trains of any size was one of his hobbies, he called himself a ferroequinologist. Building computers, using cameras and doing genealogy were also favorite hobbies.
