Rev. Rupert C. Kelly, 88, of South Charleston, passed away Friday, Dec. 15, 2006, at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
He had been employed by Bell Lines and retired from Smith Transfer Co. Rev. Kelly also served as pastor to many churches, including the Marlaing Gospel Tabernacle, Holly Memorial Church and the Jordan Creek Tabernacle Church. He was a member of the Riverview Gospel Tabernacle. Rev. Kelly was a US Army veteran, having served during WW II and was the recipient of the Bronze Star. He was a native of Roane County.
Preceding him in death were his wife, Rosa Faye Kelly and son, Roger L. Kelly, Sr.
He is survived by his daughters, Karen Lemon of St. Albans and Sharon Cleveland of Culloden; eleven grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 17, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Jerry Vance officiating. Burial with military graveside rites will be in Looney Cemetery, Walton, WV.
