Russell Edgar "Rusty" Smarr, Jr., went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, January 2, 2025, surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on August 12, 1948 to the late Mary Goolsby Smarr and Russell Smarr, Sr.

After Russell graduated from high school, he joined the army. Russell was honorably discharged, and a proud Vietnam Veteran.  Russell became an avid fisherman and hunter.  He even made it to the B.A.S.S. Master Classic at one time and he adored it.  Russell worked at Gander Mountain in the fishing department.

In addition to his parents, Russell is preceded in death by his sister, Patricia Smarr; and nephew, Theodore "Teddy" Wolfe.

Russell is survived by his children, James Boyd (Jane), Lisa Womack (Chris), and Lori Smith; sister, Linda Wolfe; three nieces, three nephews, twelve grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and his beloved cat, Mocha.

A memorial gathering will be held from 5pm - 7pm on Monday, January 13, 2025 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
