Obituary

Ruth Lucille Casto died Sunday, July 1, 2012, after a short illness.

She was born February 13, 1921, to Ernest and Ivy Cox. She was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, J Mason Casto, and her sister, Eloise C Hoover. Both Ruth and Mason were charter members of First Presbyterian Church of Dunbar, where she was active in the Chancel Choir, Sunday school, The Women of the Church, and many other activities. Ruth was also the last remaining Charter Member of the church.

After graduation from Charleston High School and one year of higher education she worked for Dunn and Bradstreet. She served as a secretary for the First Presbyterian Church for 26 years. She was a member of The Order of the Eastern Star, worked with the Order of Rainbow Girls, and was a Girl Scout Leader. She loved children and animals. Her childhood dog, Lobo was remembered to the end and bringing other dogs to her bed continued to bring her joy.

Ruth is survived by her daughters, Karen Casto of Dunbar, and Phyllis Tate of Ocala, Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the First Presbyterian Church of Dunbar with Reverend Dr. Patricia Jarvis officiating. Interment will follow at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of her loyal caregivers. Over the years they provided not only physical care for Ruth, but also added quality of life to her. They became family members themselves and brought comfort to us all.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Dunbar 1414 Myers Avenue, Dunbar, WV 25064.

Arrangements are in the care of
