Ruth Mae McCallister, 98, of Dunbar, WV passed away August 22, 2015.

She was born in Jackson County on February 16, 1917 and was a daughter of the late James and Oshel Whited.

Ruth was a long time member of Dunbar First Baptist Church. She worked at A.W. Cox, Diamond Department Store and Jackson County Board of Education.

She loved to play golf with her husband and children. She was one of the oldest members of Dunbar First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Earl Richard McCallister Sr, and several brothers and sisters.

Ruth is survived by her son, Richard McCallister and his wife, Karen, of Wilson, NC; daughter, Regina Evans and her husband, William Clark, of Trumbull, CT; sister, Myrtle Casto and Anna Randolph, both of Ripley; grandchildren, Deborah Wyatt of Greenville, TX, Jason McCallister of East Lansing, MI, Michael Andrew Evans of Redding, CT ,and Christopher Jay Evans of Boston, MA ; great-grandchildren, Justin Wyatt of Greenville, TX, Jessica Wyatt deSilva of New York, NY, Rachael Wyatt of Greenville, TX, and Noah Gage McCallister of East Lansing, MI; great –great-grandchild, Sophia Wyatt of Greenville, TX.

A celebration of Ruth's life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 25 at Dunbar First Baptist Church with Pastor Jason Quintrell officiating. Burial will follow at Cunningham Memorial Park. Following the burial there will be a reception at the Dunbar First Baptist Church for friends and family that would like to attend.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 24 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
