Ruth Rosalie Laake Queen, 89, of Nixa, MO, died at 3:30 AM, Sunday, March 13, 2011 at the Christian Health Care in Nixa, MO.
Ruth was a resident of Dunbar for many years, but spent the last few years of her life with her son, Larry Queen and daughter-in-law, JoAnn Queen in Nixa, MO.
She was born July 13, 1921, in Bownemont, WV, and was the daughter of the late Joseph Laake and Oma Withrow Laake Mash. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Judith Queen Westfall; son, Michael Queen; sisters, Woneda Cobb, Faye Potter, Beulah Shafer and brother Franklin Laake.
Ruth is survived by her son Larry Queen; daughter-in-law JoAnn Queen, son-in-law Richard Westfall, sisters, Betty Mallett and Maxine Laake; grandchildren, Tamara Westfall Frank, Laura Nielson, Toby Queen; and six great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a former employee of Fletcher Enamel Co. of Dunbar, the Dunbar Post Office, and she retired from the Kanawha County School Board. She spent many years taking care of her mother who suffered a stroke that left her paralyzed.
Prior to entombment, visitation will be held from 12 to 2 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
She will be laid to rest in the Grandview Memorial Park Mausoleum, Dunbar.
