Sandra Gail "Sandy" Dawson, 68, of Cross Lanes, left this world for her heavenly home on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.
Sandy was born on October 5, 1954, she was the daughter of Lucille King Hicks Bowen and her husband Clifford Bowen, both deceased.
Sandy had an infectious smile, never met a stranger and greeted everyone with a warm hug and conversation that will bring you to tears with laughter. She will be remembered as an expert pumpkin roll and candy maker. She loved spending time at her home in Florida, fishing with her late husband and spending as much time as she could with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Sandy loved to travel and recently had been to Washington DC, and Gatlinburg, TN with her granddaughter's Girl Scout Troop.
In addition to her parents Sandy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 30 years, the love of her life, Cecil E. Dawson; sisters, Betty Clay and Mildred Jenkins; brothers; Paul Hicks and David Hicks.
Sandy is survived by her children, Billy Jeffers (Irandia), Christina Jeffers (Brandie); step-children, Tangee Bennet (Dan) and Todd Dawson; siblings, Sharon Edmonds, Mary Road, Michael Hicks, Ruth Jefferson and Malita Johnson; grandchildren, David Jeffers, Brain Jeffers, Simone Megginson, Nichole Haynes, Cameron Arbogast, Christian Arbogast, Zendaya Lawhon-Jeffers, Taylor Lawhon-Jeffers, Kylee Lawhon-Jeffers, Kaylynn Lawhon-Jeffers, Cameron Jeffers, Johnathan Hodge, Joseph Hodge, Jacob Blakeley, Kydie Stefano, Emily Huff, Halee Lapinsky, Anna Snead, Ashley Dawson and Rebekka Dawson; great-grandchildren, Kaylee, Jordyn, Amos, Emma, Paige, Kayden, Brantlee, Aubree, Jasper and Adalyn, with two more coming this year; special family friends, Brian, Sarah and Branson Stover, Marsha Simpkins and Judy Atcher. Sandy will be fondly remembered and loved by many extended family and dear friends.
Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 13 at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar with Pastor James Jobe officiating.
Visitation with the family will be 2 hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home.
