Sedric Lamar Cook, 40, of Dunbar went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at home.

He was born on October 26, 1983 to Cindy O'Neal and Noel G. Cook.

Sedric was a graduate of South Charleston High School. He was an insurance investigator.  Sedric liked his job because it put him in rural areas as he loved to be outside. Sedric enjoyed camping, hiking, and fishing, but he loved his children most of all.

He found God through his recovery and walked with the Lord everyday. God saved Sedric and brought him back up from the bottom, and only God could do that.  He was a devout member of Teays Valley Baptist Church.  Sedric was finally happy, and found his self-worth.

Sedric is preceded in death by his grandparents, Juanita and Harlen Eads, and Noel R. and Patricia Cook.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Alaric, Aralynn, and Kendylle Cook; parents, Cindy O'Neal (Carl) and Noel G. Cook (Dawnetta) Cook; siblings, Christina Starcher, Javan O'Neal (Elexus), and Sarai Cook; nieces, Alana "Lala" Starcher, Briana Atkins, Jayla Starcher, and Nola O'Neal; nephews, Ezra Starcher and Greyson O'Neal; along with a host of aunts, uncles, great niece/nephews, and cousins.

The family would like to extend a "thank you" to anyone who offered a helping hand to Sedric when he was in need, and to anyone who has reached out to help over the last few days.

A funeral service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10, 2024 to celebrate the life of Sedric with Pastor Charlie Shelton officiating at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, please, consider making a donation to Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar to assist with funeral expenses.

Family will welcome visitors one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
