Obituary

Selbert A. Pickens, 87, of Dunbar, passed away after a long illness on Friday, November 8, 2019.

He was born on February 1, 1932, in Dunbar, to the late Hubert and Mabel Pickens.

Selbert was a retired mechanic and loved hunting and fishing. He accepted Jesus as his savior at the age of 83 and attended Roxalana Gospel Tabernacle in Dunbar.

In addition to this parents he was preceded in death by his son, Wayne Pickens; brother, Russell Pickens; and sisters, Ruby Dean, Lucille Temple and Emily Reedy.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years Anita Edwards Pickens; sons, Paul Pickens and wife Helen; Quinten Pickens, Brent Pickens and wife Lacey; daughter, Jan Cobb and husband Frank; brother Nobel Pickens and wife Betty; sisters, Wanda Arnott, Vada Miller and husband Clyde; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Rev. Tom Price officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
