Obituary

Sharon Lynn Ball passed away at St. Mary's Medical Center on February 17, 2018 after a long illness.

Sharon was born on June 15, 1957. She was a life-long resident of Charleston, West Virginia, where she was a long-standing Girl Scout in a troop in which her mother was a leader, and she was a 1975 graduate of George Washington High School. Sharon spent her early adult life as an at-home babysitter. She loved and was devoted to those children entrusted to her care, and remained an aunt-like friend and confidant to them into their own adulthood. She loved to read and she loved cats, especially Siamese cats. She loved penguins, the beach, the LA Dodgers, anybody named Earnhardt, anything by Stephen King, and Jim Morrison and The Doors.

Sharon was an only child, but she had a life-long sister in Mrs. Joella Clark Winship, of Port Orange Florida, who has been her best friend in the whole world since they were both in diapers. Her smile, her laughter, and her sharp wit and sarcastic humor will be greatly missed. Sharon was preceded in death by her father, William Carroll Ball, and her mother, Carolyn Yvonne Rader Ball. She is survived by her Aunt Jean Gillispie of Dunbar, and her cousin, Mrs. Karen Gillispie Fields of Mink Shoals, who were with her throughout her illness.

There is to be no service. As per Sharon's wishes, she will be cremated and her ashes scattered.

Arrangements are in the care of Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
