Obituary

Sharon Lynn Hudson, 63, of Sissonville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 2, 2023.

She was born October 20, 1959 in Charleston, to Wilbur and Sylvia Taylor Cavender.

Sharon was a loving wife and mother to not only her own children, but to countless others.  A dedicated and passionate troop leader Sharon spent decades with the Girl Scouts organizing trips, planning events, and mentoring the young members of her Girl Scout troops.  The legacy she left on girls of the Sissonville area through these efforts will not be forgotten.

An avid photographer, Sharon always had a camera in her hand to capture memories, whether that be taking photos for Girl Scout activities, family events, or even for the yearbook at Flinn Elementary; which she continued to work on long after her own children had left the school.  Sharon loved nothing more than to share her pictures with everyone.

Sharon loved camping, spending many summers camping with family and friends at Holly River State Park.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Theodore Hudson; and father, Wilbur Cavender.

Sharon is survived by her mother, Sylvia Cavender of Charleston; her sister, Karen Cavender-Swiney of Sutton; her daughter, Krista Mason and husband Nick of Columbus, OH; Alexis Hudson of Columbus, OH; Alyssa Hudson of Columbus, OH; Jessica Cavender of Charleston; step-daughter, Jeni Greene and husband William of Eure, NC; grandchildren, Alexandria Cavender, Adrian Cavender, Jenna Lewellen, Charlotte Greene; and great-grandchildren, Ryker Lewellen, Elijah Lewellen, and Au'Brianna Cavender.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, June 6, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Mike Harper officiating.  Burial will follow in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.

Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Sharon's Honor to either the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council at 321 Virginia St. W, Charleston, WV 25302 or the Holly River State Park Foundation, Inc at PO Box 2, Hacker Valley, WV 26222
