Shawn Ryan Goode, 35, formerly of St. Albans, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 27, 2018 in Dunbar.

Shawn was born on May 18, 1982 in Jefferson, LA to Walter Goode and Donna Scruggs. He graduated from St. Albans High School in 2000. Shawn joined the Air Force in December 2002 and served honorably for 10 years and 3 months as an Integrated Avionics Technician before being medically discharged. While in the Air Force, he deployed multiple times and was awarded many decorations, including: the Air Force Commendation Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Achievement Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 oak leaf clusters, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal with 1 oak leaf cluster, Global War on Terrorism Medal Expeditionary and Service Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with gold border with 1 oak leaf cluster, NATO Medal, and the Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, as well as many Meritorious and Outstanding Unit awards.

He is preceded in death by his grandfather, George Daniel Goode of Nitro and aunt, Katherine Mitchell of Dunbar.

Shawn is survived by his daughter, Eva Goode of Tucson, AZ; father, Walter Goode of Dunbar; sisters, Tracie White of St. Albans and Jennifer Zamudio of Huntington; brother, Richard Goode of Mobile, AL; uncle and aunt, Michuel and Susan Goode, of Caldwell.

A memorial will be held at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar. Burial will follow in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veterans Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
