Shirley Ann Short, 63, of Dunbar, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, and is at peace after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born on May 14, 1955, in South Charleston, to the late Everette and Betty Thompson.

Shirley was independent and a very hard worker. She enjoyed shopping, having her nails done and going to the movies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Terry Short and her sister, Linda Thompson Stevens.

Shirley is survived by her brothers, Marshall Thompson (Connie) of Dunbar; Jimmy Thompson (Violet); brother-in-law, Tom Stevens (Nancy) of Dunbar; several nieces, nephews and other family members.

The family would like to thank the staff at Teays Valley Center and HospiceCare for going above and beyond in their care of Shirley.

A life celebration will held at 5 p.m. on Saturday, November 3, at Winfield Baptist Church, Winfield, with Pastor Mark Toole officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd. W, Charleston, WV 25387.
