Shirley Ann Ward, 78, of Charleston, went home to be with the Lord, on May 28, 2017, at home surrounded by her family after a short courageous battle with cancer.

She was born January 22, 1939, in Lundale to the late Okie and Maxine Mills.

Shirley worked for 27 years at Mr. Donut in Kanawha City. She loved playing bingo, cooking for everyone and taking care of all her family.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Jim Ward.

She is survived by her children, Jamie Ward of Charleston, Debra Hannan (Kermit) of South Charleston, Robert and Jeff Ward, of Charleston, and Barbara Hudson (Clifford) of Witcher Creek; grandchildren, Brian, Leslie, Sarabeth, BJ, Christopher, Linda and Ashley; 13 great grandchildren; along with her brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff at Thomas Hospital and Kanawha HospiceCare for all their wonderful care.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 1, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with Pastor Tony Rumberg officiating. Burial will follow in Highland Memory Gardens, Pecks Mill.

Friends may visit two hours prior to the service at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar.
