Stephen C. Campbell of Buffalo, WV, was called to his heavenly home on February 25, 2025 after a battle with cancer, at WVU Thomas Memorial with his soulmate, Doris Caldwell Miller, by his side.
He was born on November 12, 1951 to his parents, Mary Ellen and Clinton Campbell.
Stephen graduated from Dunbar High School in 1969 and attended Virginia Tech, WV tech, and WV State University. He loved all music and played trumpet, guitar, banjo, and had many other hobbies that kept him busy. Stephen was a coach of Little League Baseball for many years in St. Albans. He also loved flying a Cessna. Stephen's latest hobby was joining a sailboat club in Kentucky and getting his certification. He retired from Charleston Newspaper after 42 years as an IT Specialist. His proudest moments were spent as a member of Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charleston, doing time on session and on committees.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen (Berry) Campbell; father, Chilton Campbell and stepmother, Mary Campbell; brother, Mike Campbell; his Aunt June and Uncle Calvin Clark with whom he lived after the death of his mother while still a young man in high school. Stephen took great care of his wife, Elizabeth Taylor Campbell, for many years until her death.
Stephen is survived by his son, Scott Campbell of Charleston WV; cousins, (loved like brothers) David Clark (Vicki) of Dunbar and Calvin Clark (Debi) of Sequin, TX; stepson, Kevin Ellison (Ann); stepdaughter, Keri Ellison (Mark Lefwich); step-grandchildren, Garret Ellison (Cayla), Sarah Ellison, Hailea Belcher (Leo), Sam Ellison, and Emmalee Moles. Further surviving, are seven Great-Step grandchildren who brought an enormous amount of love and laughter to his world.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on April 12 at Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church: 317 Washington Street West in Charleston, WV with Pastor Dawn Adamy officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Stephen's wishes were donations to Bream Memorial Church or the Bream Shop.
A light lunch will be served after the service at the church, and all are welcome.
