Stephen "Steve" Robert Morgan, 56, of Dunbar, passed away Monday June 7, 2021.

He spent most of his life as a resident in the Charleston area and recently moved back to Dunbar after living in the Huntsville, AL area. Steve always considered himself a West Virginian at heart, regardless of where he lived. He also resided in Tennessee and South Carolina for a number of years. His vocation was as a cook and restaurant manager.

Steve was a lifelong sports enthusiast who played football and wrestled at Stonewall Jackson High School and further played football at Glenville State and West Virginia State College. He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and West Virginia University football. Steve's other passion was poetry, he had a great number of poems that he wrote and shared with others. Most of all, Steve's greatest love was with his son Max Morgan. Their relationship gave him a sense of pride.

Steve is survived by his son, Maxwell Norman Morgan of Paris, KY; mother, Judith Morgan of Huntsville, AL; brother, Rick Morgan, of Madison, AL; niece, Leah Howell of Madison, AL; nephews, Nick Morgan of Huntsville, AL and Jake Morgan of Fultondale, AL; and a host of many aunts, uncles, and cousins located in many locations.

A memorial service will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, June 21, at Heritage Church, Madison, AL. The service will be streamed live on the church's Facebook page.
