Obituary

Steven D. Washington, 51, entered his eternal rest on November 14, 2025, reunited with the loved ones who went before him.  He was preceded in death by his son, Steven Washington, whom he longed to hold again; his mother, Elizabeth Washington; brother, Mark Washington; along with his grandparents, Mildred Washington and Russell Cochran.

Steven leaves behind his beloved daughter, Jayonna Janai Elizabeth Washington, the absolute light of his life.  He also leaves to mourn his passing, his one true love, Tonya Swayne, who stood with him through every triumph and every setback.  He is survived by his brothers, Leron Washington and James Washington; his sister, Tress Washington and Tiasheena Cochran, who was like a big sister.  Latisha Figgs was a longtime friend whose friendship he cherished.  There are Also many nephews, nieces, and cousins who will forever hold him close.

For nearly four years Steven was proud to work at CAMC.  Having what he called a "real job" —a career he earned through determination and perseverance—meant the world to him.  He took pride in doing good work and making a difference.

Steven earned his GED and carried that accomplishment with pride.  Growing up, he played every sport he could, and never hesitated to tell you how great he was on any field.  His humor, boldness, and unmistakable personality made him unforgettable.

Steven's life was filled with challenges, but he faced them with resilience. He fought addiction and worked hard to maintain his sobriety for many years, he understood that recovery was a lifelong journey.  He leaned on his faith and encouraged others to do the same.  He often shared moments from work when he would speak with people struggling with addiction, offering hope and reminding them that a better life was possible.

Everyone who knew Steven knew his heart.  He was a giver—fully, freely, and without hesitation.

Steven knew the Lord, and because of that, his family takes comfort in knowing where he is.  One day, we will see hm again.  Until then, may he rest in peace, reunited with his son, Steven, mother, brother, Mark, and all the loved ones who welcomed him home.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 2, 2025 at the  Full Gospel Assembly:  2101 10th Avenue, Huntington, WV with Bishop Samuel R. Moore officiating.

The family will receive guests one hour prior to the service.
